Tom Brady News

Tom Brady continues to awe and amaze us mere mortals, entering his 22nd year in the NFL, and continuing to play at an All-Pro level. The kid from San Mateo, California has defied the laws of nature and looks better in his mid-40’s than he has at any point in his life.

With a super-model wife, Gisele Bundchen, at his side and three beautiful children, life is good if you are Tom Brady. Let’s see what he has been up to lately, and what his plans are going forward. Is it possible he wasn’t joking when he casually mentioned he would play until he was 50 years old?! Let’s explore the world of Tom Brady and find out!

The GOAT is Back in ‘21

When discussing the greatest of all time (GOAT) to ever play in the National Football League there is one name that is uttered almost universally – Tom Brady. His list of accomplishments is endless but we will touch upon the highlights.

– 7-time Super Bowl champion (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLIX, LI, LIII, LV)

– 5-time Super Bowl MVP (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XLIX, LI, LV)

– 3-time NFL Most Valuable Player (2007, 2010, 2017)

– Unanimous NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team

– Most Super Bowls

– Most career wins

– Most career touchdown passes

Last season was his first with a team other than the one that selected him in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft. Brady decided to eschew the cold, New England winters as a member of the Patriots for the sun-splashed beaches and tropical climes of Tampa, Florida.

And wouldn’t you know it, he elevated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from a 7-9 club in 2019 to a Super Bowl-winning champion in 2020. Few included the Bucs in their NFL picks to win the Super Bowl last season but this year the Bucs have picked up plenty of believers.

After defeating the favored Kansas City Chiefs last season in the league’s biggest game on their grandest stage, it looks like we could see an encore based on the early returns of the ’21 season. Both teams look sharp and could be headed for another championship collision in February.

Perhaps what makes Brady so good, other than natural ability, is his insatiable thirst to improve even when the numbers are staggering. Consider his postgame comments after a recent game against the Atlanta Falcons in which he passed for a whopping five touchdowns, en route to a 48-25 victory.

“We were a little loose with the ball. Some penalties at different times that knocked us out of some scoring drives. Some missed throws and missed reads. I certainly wish I had made a few better throws,” Brady said.

“But it’s good to get the win. 2-0,” the seven-time Super Bowl winner added. “There’s a lot to build on.”

Certainly not someone relishing the victory and basking in the afterglow of yet another magnificent performance. Tom Terrific has always been a team-first player which has endeared him to his coaches and teammates.

His stint in Tampa Bay mirrors the resolve and work ethic he religiously practiced as a member of the New England Patriots. Therefore, it is no surprise he is having the same stunning success which could very well manifest into another Super Bowl title when the season is done.

Nifty is Fifty Says Brady

The Tom Brady watch is ever vigilant and the pundits continue to be wrong about his longevity. One such “expert”, Max Kellerman, has declared for years that Brady is poised to “fall off a cliff”. His point is that age will ultimately prevent him from being a top-tier passer in the league. Eventually, Kellerman will be right but every year, since 2016 when he first uttered those words, Brady has proven him remarkably wrong.

Recently, teammate and fellow future NFL Hall-of-Famer, Rob Gronkowski, asked him again how long he intends to play and it went just like this.

“Can Tom Brady play until 50-years-old?” Gronkowski asks — to which Brady playfully replies,” I don’t find it so difficult… so I feel like I can play then glide into retirement [in Florida]. I think I can. It’s a ‘yes.’”

But shortly after that, Gronkowski asked a more pointed question.

“Will Gisele let Tom play until 50? That’s the real question,” declared Gronkowski, who is dating Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model, Camille Kostek.

“That’s a way better question,” Brady said, laughing. “That was of course, no, that answer.”

Bucs GM, Jason Licht, said in May, “I told him if he wants to play ‘til he’s 50 and he’s still playing and he feels like he can still play, then he can play until he’s 50.”

After re-upping for two years with the Bucs in the offseason, Brady was asked about his plans, to which he replied, “Fifty? That’s a long time. Even for me, that’s a long time. I’ve always said 45 was the age that I wanted to reach and that was my goal. This year I’ll be 44, so next year I’ll be 45. I got a two-year contract.”

If anyone can play into their 50’s, Brady is the man to do it. Just don’t tell Gisele.
